Gum

Print

The problem with gum is
it loses flavor.
The problem with life is
it’s too much like gum.

That burst of sweetness,
that sugary rush
is gone before I know it.
So why do I bother?

Every time
I wish the taste would last a little longer.
But every time
I end up disappointed.
Oh, it never changes.

Love loses its passion
after a while.
Touch simply becomes touch
when once it was electric.

Saying I love you
starts to lose its meaning.
And kissing you goodbye
is just a daily ritual

My favorite song,
the one that once touched me with emotion.
I played it a thousand times
and ruined it forever.
Oh, it’s not the same again

The problem with gum is
it loses flavor.
The problem with life is
it’s too much like gum.
